Rwanda Delivers Second Batch of Humanitarian Aid to Disaster Victims in Mozambique
The Government of Rwanda delivered a second shipment of humanitarian assistance on Friday night to support victims of natural disasters in Mozambique, reinforcing the strong ties of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the two countries.
The consignment, totalling approximately 25 tons, consists primarily of essential food items, including cooking oil, flour, milk, beans, biscuits, juices, and mineral water. The aid is intended to assist communities affected by the recent disasters.
Speaking to the press, Rwanda’s Ambassador to Mozambique, Donat Ndamage, explained that the initiative was launched immediately after Rwanda became aware of the challenges faced by the Mozambican population.
“As soon as we learned about the situation in Mozambique, as a friendly and brotherly nation, we decided to mobilize assistance to support our brothers and sisters during this difficult time,” he said.
According to the ambassador, this is the second shipment of donations. The first batch, delivered earlier in the week, included corn, cooking oil, fruit, and medical supplies, totaling approximately 22 tons.
Ambassador Ndamage emphasized that the assistance reflects a joint effort between the Government of Rwanda and the Rwandan community, including citizens residing in Mozambique.
“The Rwandan community lives and benefits from well-being in Mozambique and therefore felt compelled to give back during this challenging moment,” he added.
He further highlighted the strong cooperation between Rwanda and Mozambique across various sectors and expressed a commitment to continuing to strengthen bilateral relations, including collaboration with media institutions, with the goal of fostering a lasting partnership built on mutual trust.
