5th March, 2026 (Maputo) – The Rwandan Community in Mozambique in conjunction with the Rwanda High Commission in Maputo, will celebrate the International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8th March 2026, 4h00 at Polana Serena Hotel.
This event demonstrates the value that the Government of Rwanda gives to the role of women in upbringing society generations, home state wealth fare, as well as contributing to the development of the country in general. The event takes place in the spirit of highlighting that Rwanda is a world leader in gender parity criteria, with a women representation in the parliament of more than 60% and a significant percentage in the cabinet.
On the occasion of the event, speeches from a prominent women leadership as well as a Representative of the Government of Mozambique and the High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Mozambique, H.E.Donat Ndamage, will be delivered. The guests will be entertained by the Rwandan cultural troupe, followed by a get together party.
The International Women's Day (8th March) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific. IWD is a movement, powered by the collective efforts of all.
